Our main objective is to raise money to support charities and those in need. Everything we achieve from fund-raising activities is donated to good causes. You can read about the support we give on the Helping Others page.
A secondary objective is to promote fellowship between members and have fun doing it! You can read more in our Having Fun page.
We also support the community in numerous ways, as described below
Catering
The main source of fund-raising is from our food vans, which attend numerous public events during the year.
We sell burgers, bacon & egg rolls and sausage sizzles, with a selection of cold drinks to wash them down.

Recycle for Sight
Lions Recycle for Sight Australia is part of the Lions Clubs International Worldwide Eyeglass Recycling Program, headquartered in Queensland and operating throughout Australia and overseas. We collect unused spectacles and hearing aids, sort them then send them to the Lions Recycle Centre in Redcliffe where they are:
- Carefully sorted and graded
- Professionally cleaned and refurbished
- Packaged and distributed to global outreach teams and aid organisations
They could be sent to Africa, the Indian Sub-continent, East Asia, Far East China, the countries of the Pacific Rim or Southern Asia. Whether it’s helping a child in school or an adult gain meaningful employment, every pair of recycled glasses makes a real difference.

Walk to School
For the last four years we have been running a Walk to School program to bring children, parents and volunteers together for a healthy start to the day.
We begin at 8:00am every Tuesday during term time at Cranks Creek Park on Outlook Drive. At 8:10am we head out along Tewantin’s safe pathways, arriving at Noosaville State School about 20 minutes later.
Over the years we have built strong relationships with the children, sharing laughs, high-fives and stories along the way.
The walk covers just under two kilometres and each child is rewarded with an icy pole at the end, provided by the Council’s Go Noosa program.
Beyond fun the benefits are significant. Regular walking helps children meet daily physical activity recommendations, improves mood and alertness and supports long-term health and wellbeing into teenage years and adulthood.
Youth of the Year
Every year we invite several local schools to put forward candidates for a competition to stand in front of an audience and give a presentation on a topic of their choice. The presentations are judged on their content and delivery. The winners are put forward to regional heats.
This encourages self-confidence in the younger generation and helps prepare them for a future career. You can read more here.
Event Support
We support events with help such as marshalling and hire of catering equipment.
Car Parking
Over a period of 21 years the Noosa Council has invited the Tewantin Noosa Lions Club to collect gate takings for car parking at the Noosa Heads Lions Park. Traditionally, this has taken place over the Christmas and Easter holiday periods and involves participation by all Club members.
The Park is open for parking to alleviate vehicle congestion over the mentioned holiday periods and is well used particularly by visitors.
The takings are forwarded to Noosa Council who in turn return a proportion to the Club in recognition of the many hours spent on the project.
Disaster Support
We donate part of our proceeds to Lions Club International Federation, who are quick to support any parts of the world impacted by major disasters. This support is provided by empowering local Lions Clubs to give immediate support on the ground, with funds supplied from central funds.
A classic example was the devastation caused by bushfires in NSW in 2019. Lions International provided a US$103,000 LCIF Disaster Relief grant to restore water infrastructure in District 202-N1.

Breakfast Club
Every Thursday during term time we offer breakfasts to children at Noosa State Primary School. We do the same every Friday at Tewantin State Primary School. Other organisations offer breakfasts on the other days of the week.
The breakfast usually consists of a slice of toast and a drink, and we typically serve around 30 children. We don’t ask questions, but in many cases it may be the only breakfast the child has.
Christmas Cakes
Lions throughout Australia are known for their Christmas Cakes! We deliver them to numerous outlets who sell them on our behalf. The proceeds from this project are donated back into the community for great causes including Blindness Prevention and Vision improvement projects, Medical Research, Children’s Mobility Foundation, Eye Health Program, Hearing Dogs, Disaster Relief, Aged Care, Drug Awareness and Youth Programs.
